Description

Johann Praetorius was born in Hamburg on 25 November 1595 and studied – like his brother Jakob – with Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (from 1609-1610). He was organist at the church of St Nikolai in Hamburg from 1611-1660. This edition also contains three variations on ”Mein junges Leben hat ein End” (My young life has an end), hitherto ascribed to J.P. Sweelinck.
