Fasciné par l’idée qu’il puisse exister une sorcière omnisciente, Partch a composé ces dix scènes pour chanteuse et ensemble. Les musiciens et leurs mouvements font partie de l’intrigue, dans laquelle les hommes sont délivrés de différents problèmes par une sorcière. La plupart des instruments utilisés ainsi que le système sonore ont été développés par Partch.
