The "Tre pezzi brevi" are the first and in some respect the most notable in a series of successful works for flute solo by Norma Beecroft. The interpretation of the pieces requires the highest mastery in the most important contemporary playing techniques. Thanks to their compact form and versatile combination (flute with harp, piano or guitar), these pieces have become an important part of the repertoire and have found their place as "contemporary flute classics".
