Here is a marvelously appealing work suitable for contest or concerts composed in two main sections. The melodic and reverent Ballad is richly scored and contains nicely contrastinginstrumental colors. A spirited clapping pattern accompanies the woodwinds in the opening strains of the Dance. The Ballad theme returns in a glorious grandioso setting to close out this well-crafted work. (5:40)
